After taking Ritual Synbiotic+ for 90 days, I then tested Seed Daily Synbiotic for 60 days. I'm very excited to share my thoughts on both of my experiences. I had been dealing with bloating and low energy before taking these supplements, which was the reason for embarking on this mission.

While I realize everyone's body will react differently to any supplement, I can only reflect back on how my body responded. Not everyone likes Seed or Ritual Synbiotic, and I will not promote one product over the other.

What was my experience like with Ritual and Seed? Did they actually work for bloating and increased energy levels through a healthier gut? What are the main differences and similarities? And which one is better? Stick around to find out!

Why I Decided To Try Seed

I took Ritual Synbiotic+ for 3 months and I really appreciated the results I was getting, specifically with bloating and digestion. I found Seed through learning more about synbiotics while taking Ritual. I thought to myself, could Seed do a better job than Ritual Synbiotic+? That's when I decided to give it a shot, plus it allowed me to save $5 per month.

My 60-Day Experience Taking Seed

seed synbiotic

Starting my journey with Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic was, in many ways, a leap of faith. As a mom, I'm always juggling a million tasks, and adding one more thing to my routine felt daunting. But the allure of a better gut health, combined with the rave reviews I'd heard, nudged me to give it a try. The packaging was the first pleasant surprise. The refillable glass jar wasn't just aesthetically pleasing on my countertop but also whispered promises of a sustainable choice I'd made for my family and the planet.

As days melted into weeks, subtle changes began to emerge. Those uncomfortable bloating episodes that I'd begrudgingly accepted as part of my evenings started becoming less frequent. It wasn't an overnight miracle, but the gradual relief felt genuine and lasting. Incorporating the Seed capsule into my daily routine turned out to be a breeze, especially with no refrigeration needed. It's the little things, like this convenience, that make a big difference in a mom's packed day.

Reflecting on the two-month mark, the improvements in my digestive rhythm were undeniable. The price point of $49.99 per month did make me pause initially, but feeling lighter and more in tune with my body's needs felt like a worthy trade-off. It wasn't just about the physical benefits; it was also about the conscious choice I made towards a holistic approach to health. In the grand scheme of motherhood and life's chaos, Seed felt like a gentle, supportive companion on my wellness journey.

What I Didn't Like

  • Price: At $49.99 per month, it's an investment. While I found value in it, it might be a bit pricey for some, but it's cheaper than Ritual.
  • Not a Quick Fix: The benefits were gradual, and it wasn't an immediate transformation. Patience is key.
  • Adjustment Period: Like with many supplements, there might be a short initial period where the body adjusts to the new probiotics.

In all, while the experience was positive, it's essential to weigh the pros against the cons based on individual health goals and budget considerations.

Why I Decided To Try Ritual Synbiotic

Amidst the hustle of motherhood and seeking ways to better my health, I often turned to podcasts for insights. It was on one of these health and wellness podcasts that I first heard about Ritual Synbiotic+.

The discussion emphasized the significance of a balanced gut and how it profoundly affects our overall well-being. With bloating being a consistent issue for me, making my evenings particularly uncomfortable, Ritual's promise of a 3-in-1 blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics sounded like the solution I'd been searching for. Intrigued by the podcast's endorsement and the potential of feeling lighter and more energized, I felt compelled to give Ritual Synbiotic+ a shot.

My 90 Day Experience Take Ritual Synbiotic+

ritual synbiotic

Embarking on my 90-day journey with Ritual Synbiotic+ was fueled by a hope to alleviate the persistent bloating that often overshadowed my days. As a mom constantly on her feet, catering to the whirlwind demands of family life, I yearned for some inner comfort. Ritual, with its sleek packaging and promise of a 3-in-1 blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics, seemed like a worthy companion for this quest.

The initial weeks brought subtle changes. By the end of the first month, the bloating episodes, once a predictable evening ritual, began to space out. Mornings felt more refreshing as I went about my mom duties, making breakfasts and prepping the kids. There was a newfound lightness, a gentle shift from the discomfort that had almost become second nature.

As I approached the 90-day mark, the improvements were more pronounced. Those unpredictable gut-related discomforts were fewer and farther between. The $54 monthly price tag did make me weigh the benefits against the investment, but the relief I felt seemed to justify the cost. Through Ritual, I discovered a more harmonious gut rhythm, making my days smoother and my role as a mom a tad more effortless.

What I Liked

  • Effective Bloating Relief: Over the 90 days, there was a noticeable reduction in bloating, especially during the evenings.
  • Convenient Use: The fact that it doesn't require refrigeration is a significant plus, making it easy to store and travel with.
  • Comprehensive Formula: The 3-in-1 blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics felt thorough in its approach to gut health.
  • Traceability: The product's transparency and traceability gave me confidence in its quality and ingredients.

What I Didn't Like

  • Price: At $54 per month, it's a bit on the pricier side, making it an investment.
  • Gradual Results: While improvements were seen, they were gradual, requiring patience.
  • Initial Adjustment: Like many supplements, there was a short initial period where my body adjusted to the new probiotics, which might not be comfortable for everyone.

In summary, while Ritual Synbiotic+ brought about positive changes in my gut health, it's essential to weigh its benefits against the price and individual body responses.

Comparing Delivery System (2-in-1 Capsules)

Delivery is something that makes both of these synbiotics stand out from all other competitors on the market. Both use a dynamic 2-in-1 capsule design. Daily Synbiotic's capsule consists of a prebiotic outer capsule and probiotic inner capsule. The outer capsule consists of punicalagins concentrated from Indian pomegranate that are easily "biotransformed" by gut microbes. The inner capsule consists of probiotic strains.

Like Daily Synbiotic, Synbiotic+ uses a nested capsule design that separates the probiotics from the prebiotics for timed digestion. Synbiotic+ boasts that its 2-in-1 delayed-release capsule design reaches the colon instead of the stomach to enable probiotics to thrive.

Comparing Cost and Value

Price Point:

  • Ritual Synbiotic+: Priced at $54 per month.
  • Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic: Priced slightly lower at $49.99 per month.

Daily Cost Breakdown:

  • Ritual: $54 ÷ 30 days = $1.80 per day
  • Seed: $49.99 ÷ 30 days = $1.67 per day

At first glance, the difference seems minimal, just 13 cents per day. But over a month, that's almost a $4 difference. Over a year, it accumulates to roughly $48 in savings if you opt for Seed.

Packaging & Sustainability:

  • Ritual: Comes in standard packaging, however the Caps are made from 100% post consumer recyled materials. The bottles are eligible for Ritual's Packaging Takeback Program with Pact Collective. Furthermore, Ritual uses materials with sustainability at top of mind, while always working to protect the integrity of their Synbiotic+ product. The primary focus is on the product's efficacy and quality. Lastly, Ritual is currently working towards a goal of 100% sustainable packaging by 2025.
  • Seed: Emphasizes sustainability with a refillable glass jar, a travel vial, and eco-friendly refills from the second month onward. This approach not only reduces waste but also adds value for eco-conscious moms.

Product Features & Benefits:

  • Ritual: Offers a 3-in-1 combination of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics. It's designed to combat bloating, support gut health, and enhance the immune system.
  • Seed: Provides a 2-in-1 combination of probiotics and prebiotics with 24 scientifically studied strains. It promises broad health support beyond just digestion, including cardiovascular and dermatological health.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ritual: Boasts third-party testing and is made traceable, ensuring transparency in its ingredients and sourcing. They also have a scientific board.
  • Seed: Takes pride in over 50 quality assurances and checkpoints throughout the production cycle, guaranteeing product purity and efficacy.

Convenience:

  • Ritual: No refrigeration needed, making it hassle-free for moms on the go.
  • Seed: Also requires no refrigeration. The added bonus of a travel vial in the welcome kit makes it convenient for trips or busy days out.

Main Differences Between Ritual Synbiotic and Seed Daily Synbiotic

Ritual Synbiotic+ and Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic both target gut health, but they differ in their formulations. Ritual offers a 3-in-1 blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics, highlighting strains like LGG® & BB-12®. In contrast, Seed boasts a 2-in-1 combination of probiotics and prebiotics, with a wider spectrum of 24 clinically studied strains. While Ritual emphasizes the inclusion of postbiotics in its formula, Seed does not mention postbiotics but underscores its broader probiotic variety and potency with 53.6 Billion AFU.

Which Is Better: Seed or Ritual Synbiotic?

Deciding which is "better" between Ritual Synbiotic+ and Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic largely depends on individual needs and preferences. Here's a quick rundown:

  • Formula Complexity: If you're looking for a more comprehensive approach that includes prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics, Ritual Synbiotic+ offers that 3-in-1 blend. On the other hand, Seed focuses on a 2-in-1 combination of probiotics and prebiotics.
  • Strain Diversity: Seed offers a broader spectrum with 24 clinically studied strains, which might appeal to those wanting a wider range of probiotic strains.
  • Sustainability & Packaging: Seed emphasizes sustainability with refillable packaging, which might resonate with eco-conscious individuals.
  • Cost: Seed is slightly cheaper per month, but the difference is minimal.
  • Specific Health Goals: If you have particular health concerns or goals, the specific strains or ingredients in one product might be more suited to your needs than the other.

In conclusion, both products are reputable and offer quality formulations. It might be worthwhile to consider individual health goals, budget, and personal values (like sustainability) when choosing between the two. If unsure, consulting with a healthcare professional can provide more personalized guidance.

The post Culturelle vs Seed: Which Synbiotic Is Better? appeared first on DTC Wellness Hub.

]]>

Optimal gut health comes from a few different sources. To help support digestion and improve my body’s natural immune response, I have taken probiotics for years. Slightly different, a synbiotic contains both prebiotics and probiotics. The prebiotic is a non-digestible fiber included as a food source for the beneficial bacteria in your gut. This allows it to thrive and multiply. When I made the change from a traditional probiotic to a synbiotic, I was shocked at the difference.

Let’s take a look at two synbiotic products: Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic and Culturelle Probiotic + Prebiotic Gummies. Before making a selection, it’s important that you know what these formulas contain, what they cost and the pros and cons of each. I’ll also share with you my personal experience.

Key Factors To Know Before Buying Seed or Culturelle Probiotics

Most popular

Seed

  • Seed has an extensive scientific board and they put their synbiotic through rigorous testing procedures to ensure potency, quality and safety.
  • 2 in 1 nested capsule helps get the live probiotics to your colon.
  • No refrigeration required

Culturelle

  • Very affordable, but only 2 Billion CFUs in the formula. With Seed, you're getting 53.6 Billion AFU.
  • The gummies taste decent and there could be issues with the probiotics surviving the gummy manufacturing heating process.
  • They kind of smell bad, which turns me off taking them.

My Experience With Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic

seed synbiotic and capsules

I should preface by saying that I’ve tried a number of probiotic and synbiotic supplements over the past few years. In an effort to improve my gut health and get rid of some annoying symptoms like bloating and discomfort, I came across the DS-01 Daily Synbiotic as an option to try out. I liked how many strains it contained in its formula. I’ve come across other products that only contained one or two strains, which usually doesn’t seem like it’s going to be all that beneficial. If you’re going to benefit from a synbiotic, Seed DS-01 gives you a fighting change, in my opinion.

I started taking DS-01 on an empty stomach upon waking up in the morning. I would eat breakfast shortly after. I experienced a slight change in bowel movements for a few days, but there wasn’t anything overly uncomfortable to worry about. I would say that it took about a week for me to notice substantial changes to my gut health. After two weeks, I had significantly fewer issues after eating and in between meals as well.

What I Like

  • The diverse number of strains in this product provides a large number of potential benefits.
  • You don’t need to refrigerate this synbiotic.
  • The dual capsule design prevents premature breakdown, so your body can utilize this supplement properly.
  • The subscription service makes it easy to receive monthly refill orders.
  • The probiotic strains in DS-01 have been clinically and scientifically studied.

What I Don’t Like

  • You have to sign up for Seed’s subscription service in order to receive this product.
  • It's expensive compared to other synbiotic supplements on the market.

All About Culturelle Probiotic + Prebiotic Gummies

With two billion CFUs of beneficial bacteria in each dose, Culturelle Probiotic + Prebiotic Gummies contain two different strains of probiotics in addition to prebiotic inulin fiber. Culturelle has designed this product to address the various factors that can throw off your delicate gut health balance. You should take this product daily, helping to repopulate your gut with beneficial bacteria that contribute to overall health.

Important Facts

  • Only two strains of probiotics are in this supplement, totaling two billion CFUs.
  • This is a vegan-friendly supplement.
  • Chicory root fiber has been added as a prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria in the gut.
  • You don’t need to refrigerate this product.

My Experience With Culturelle Synbiotic

holding culturelle probiotic + prebiotic gummies

Culturelle Synbiotic was the first product that I started with on my journey to better gut health. I figured I would start with something simple, working my way up to a more diverse product if need be. I tried this supplement for a couple of weeks. I didn’t notice much of a difference when taking it. I may have had some more frequent bowel movements that were smoother overall. I stuck with this product for about a month. I still experienced periodic episodes where my stomach would feel hard and I would experience nausea. That’s when I decided to look into something else, coming across Seed’s synbiotic supplement.

What I Like

  • The gummies are tasty and make it easy to take this product.
  • There’s less than one gram of sugar in each gummy.
  • This product is free of gelatin.

What I Don’t Like

  • Because this is a gummy-based supplement, your gut may prematurely break this product down before it reaches a beneficial point in your GI system.
  • You have to take two gummies with each dose.

Comparing Culturelle vs. Seed Synbiotics

Form: Capsules vs. Gummies

Seed Capsules Rating: 4.7/5

Culturelle Gummies Taste Rating: 4.6/5

We’re looking at two very different forms of synbiotic administration. Culturelle has created a product that is gummy-based. While this provides a tasty way to take a synbiotic, some people would rather avoid the sugar and non-organic natural flavors that are used.

Also, gummies don’t hold up well during the digestive process. You could experience your synbiotic breaking down too quickly after taking it. It doesn’t provide you with full benefits. However, Seed has gone to great lengths to create a synbiotic that survives stomach acid and a trip through your gut.

Formulas

Seed Formula Rating: 5/5

With more than 24 different strains of probiotics and four blends included in each dose, Seed definitely gets a great rating in regard to their formula. A lot of research has gone into creating a product that can help achieve gut health while also benefiting your immune response, cardiovascular system, mood and so much more.

Culturelle Formula Rating: 3/5

There are only two strains of probiotics in this product. While there are plenty of CFUs in each dose, Culturelle has likely skipped over a lot of potentially beneficial strains of probiotics that can help you achieve optimal health.

Results

Seed Results Rating: 4.8 / 5

I want to say that I’m cured since taking Seed’s DS-01 Synbiotic, but that wouldn’t be completely truthful. I still have some episodes of GI discomfort, but it’s far less than I would experience prior to starting this supplement. That being said, this is definitely the most helpful synbiotic that I’ve tried.

Culturelle Results Rating: 3.5/5

I just didn’t see enough of a change in my symptoms to provide a better rating for this product. The two strains that Culturelle has used in their formula are very beneficial, but I just don’t think they’re enough for what I specifically needed. Some people may benefit from this product, especially if they’re trying to promote a better breakdown of food or increase nutrient absorption.

Pricing and Value

Seed Value Rating: 4.6/5

The cost of Seed Synbiotic is $49.99 for a one-month supply. You really have to think about what you’re trying to achieve when you purchase Seed DS-01. These blends of probiotics and prebiotic fiber can really transform your entire body and gut. Can you really put a price on that?

Culturelle Value Rating: 4.2/5

This product is very affordable, priced at $15.99 for a one-time purchase of a one-month supply. While the price point is relatively low, you’re not getting very many strains of probiotics for your money.

Which Synbiotic Worked Better for Me? Culturelle or Seed?

Personally, I find that Seed’s DS-01 Synbiotic is a much better product compared to Culturelle’s Probiotic+Prebiotic Gummies. Because of how many strains of probiotics are included in their various blends, I was able to achieve health benefits that I really wasn’t even thinking about when looking for a product of this type. I was looking for something to help my gut, but I ended up experiencing healthier skin and an improved mood.

My Recommendation

I recommend considering what benefits you’re hoping to achieve with a synbiotic. Then, look at the different strains of probiotics and prebiotic fiber that a product provides. If Culturelle has the two strains that you feel would help you, that might be an affordable product to try. However, if you’re looking for a product that will support your body as a whole, Seed’s DS-01 Synbiotic is the way to go.

Improving my gut health was important to me this past year. Knowing that the gut is tied to so many different bodily processes, like immune response and digestion, it’s ideal to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Adding probiotics and prebiotics to my daily routine was one way that I decided to take gut health into my own hands. I compared Viome and Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic (pre- and probiotics), and I’m here to share some information with you regarding ingredients, cost, benefits and my personal experience.

Quick Facts Before Buying Seed or Viome Probiotics

Most popular

Viome

  • Viome offers a personalized approach to supplementation by way of their gut intelligence test.
  • Viome helps repopulate your gut with probiotics, but also with prebiotics that help feed beneficial bacteria, so it thrives.
  • The cost of Viome is a bit expensive because of the initial gut health test you complete, but I was able to get a good deal.

All About Seed Synbiotic

Seed DS-01 daily synbiotic on the table

Seed Synbiotic has a more versatile formula compared to Viome, which is why I considered it first. With 24 different strains of prebiotics and probiotics, there’s not a lot that’s left to be desired. Seed has taken into account what the gut needs to thrive, even formulating their product to survive the trip through your stomach acid, various enzymes in the body, etc.

A quick look at Seed Synbiotic left me impressed. You get 37 billion AFUs from just the 16 probiotic strains that are in this product. There are other blends included that focus on skin health, heart health and a micronutrient synthesis formula. There’s also the prebiotics to take into consideration and microbiota-accessible polyphenolic precursors from Indian pomegranate. This protects the body from things like bacteria, viruses, fungi and oxidative stress.

My Experience Using Seed

holding seed ds-01 daily synbiotic

I have to be honest; I was a little worried about trying Seed Synbiotic at first. There’s a lot of different strains of prebiotics and probiotics in this product, which can cause some GI upset at first. I have a bit of a sensitive stomach, but that’s one of the reasons I wanted to start taking a gut health supplement in the first place.

I was actually pleasantly surprised that I didn’t really feel gassy, bloated or unwell when I first started this supplement. I may have noticed some more frequent bowel movements for the first week or two, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Besides, they weren’t uncomfortable, and didn’t send me running to the bathroom in an emergency.

It took a few weeks for me to really see a substantial change in my gut health, but that’s pretty typical when starting a probiotic or synbiotic. You have to wait for those beneficial bacteria to repopulate your gut and reduce the bad bacteria that may be causing issues like bloating, gas, constipation, etc.

What I Liked

  • There are plenty of strains included in this product, so I didn't feel it was necessary to worry about not getting what the gut needs to thrive.
  • I didn’t experience any discomfort when starting Seed Synbiotic.
  • Affordable, priced at under $50 per month. Based on what you get in each dose, I found this to be pretty affordable.
  • There is an antioxidant aspect to this product as well, which can help boost the body’s natural immune response.
  • Seed offers a teen formula.

What I Didn’t Like

  • I feel like you have to be really dedicated to taking a gut health supplement to want to try Seed. It has a very diverse formula, which might be too much for some people.
  • I’d love to see more information available on the Seed website that explains what each strain is and what it’s used for.

Before you start taking Viome’s Precision Probiotics and Prebiotics, you complete a gut health test to find out details regarding your microbial gene expression, human gene expression and mitochondrial gene expression. This information helps Viome determine what the state of your gut health is and what you need in order to make improvements. Viome explains on their website that two people can have a very different experience with taking a probiotic supplement because of how diverse gut health can be. Viome has developed a system that addresses this issue, providing as customized a supplement as possible.

Viome outlines nine different prebiotics and probiotics on their website that are commonly used in their customized products. There are others that are available, but I had to do a little research on my own to find out more.

My Experience Using Viome

The reason I tried Viome is because I was able to take advantage of the $199 deal they were running. This price got me their gut health test in addition to their prebiotic and probiotic supplement. This can be a bit of a splurge for some people, but I like the concept of learning more about your gut health before you dive into taking a supplement. The product you receive from Viome is based on your results.

What I Liked

  • You can’t beat the personalized approach of this product. You’re not taking a supplement that has a one-size-fits-all approach. Your data helps Viome determine what will work best for you.
  • The package deal that includes the gut health test and the supplements is a good deal.
  • A lot of information is available on the Viome website. You can read up on the different strains they use, how they come up with your results, etc.
  • Viome runs a lot of promotions. For example, while writing this review, there was a 15% discount for the first three months of your subscription.

What I Didn’t Like

  • If your gut health changes in the future and you need different strains, you would have to repeat the gut health test to find out. You do get another test every 12 orders, however.
  • It takes two to three weeks to get your results, so you’ll have to hold off starting your supplement.

Comparison Section

Let’s look at my experience with these two products and how they compare.

Comparing Formulas

It’s difficult to compare the formulas of these two products since Viome offers customization of their supplements. However, you’re likely going to see a lot of the same strains for both brands. That being said, Seed includes pretty much everything you need in their supplement without having to worry about completing a gut health assessment.

Your Viome supplement that is recommended to you can include a few strains or a large amount. It really depends on the current state of your gut health.

Comparing Pricing

The current price of Seed Synbiotic is $49.99 for a 30-day supply. This is a bit expensive, but you have to consider the vast number of strains that you’re getting in each dose.

The price of a Viome subscription is currently $69.95 per month, which gets you the initial gut health test kit, your monthly supplement and a repeat test every 12 orders. Depending on what strains are recommended to you, Viome may be a little expensive.

Main Differences Between Seed and Viome

In my experience, it’s been helpful to have some initial data to consider when starting a prebiotic and probiotic. Viome provides that feature, in addition to customizing what you’re taking so you’re not wasting your time with something your body doesn’t need. Plus, you’re retesting once every year, which personally helps me make sure I’m still on the right track. You could always retest more frequently if you think it would be beneficial, but that’s going to cost you.

Seed has a very versatile formula. I didn’t see many supplements on the market that offered quite so many prebiotic and probiotic ingredients. If you’re not interested in testing your gut health and just want to start populating your GI system with beneficial bacteria and prebiotics that help those bacteria thrive, I’d recommend getting started with Seed. It’s definitely a fast-track kind of option.

Comparing Results: Which Synbiotic Was Better: Viome or Seed?

Both Seed Synbiotic and Viome Precision Probiotics + Prebiotics were easy on my gut, and I found benefits with both. I definitely had a much more comfortable digestive process with both supplements. There was more of an adjustment period with Seed, which I simply attribute to the number of strains included in its formula.

I saw noticeable benefits with Seed in a shorter amount of time, but that’s taking into account that I had to wait for my results from the Viome gut health test kit before I started taking their supplement. My own formula didn’t include anywhere near 24 strains, so it wasn’t as versatile as what Seed offered me. Your experience might be different, however.

My Recommendations

If you feel like you’re completely in the dark regarding your gut health, you would probably find it beneficial to order the Viome gut health test kit and customized supplement. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of trying to pick a synbiotic.

Of course, Seed is a very high-quality company that offers a great synbiotic for adults in addition to their teen supplement. It’s affordable and really provides you with everything you need to start improving your gut.

Choose Viome If…

  • You want to learn more about the state of your gut health before starting a supplement.
  • You want a customized supplement.
  • Reading about the ingredients you’re taking and why they’re beneficial by way of an app is enticing to you.

Choose Seed If...

  • You want a supplement that includes a large number of prebiotic and probiotic strains.
  • You want to skip the gut health test feature.
  • You’re trying to stick to a budget.
